Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command in collaboration with local security agencies have neutralised suspected kidnapper and recovered arms and ammunitions.
A statement by the PPRO, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said that the operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping unit in conjunction with hunters raided a suspected kidnappers’ hideout located at the Holma Mountains in Song Local Government Area.
"On sighting the operatives, the armed criminals opened fire in an attempt to resist arrest. However, during the ensuing gun duel, one of the kidnappers was neutralized, while others escaped with bullet wounds.
"One suspect, identified as Mohammed Sale, was arrested and the following exhibits: 1 AK-47 rifle, 2 locally made guns and 5 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition were recovered at the scene.
"The arrested suspect is currently in custody, providing useful information to aid the ongoing investigations". He said.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, while commending the swift response of the operatives and the local security partners, urged for sustained collaboration to residentsflush out criminal elements and ensure the safety of all .
"While investigations are ongoing, the command called on members of the public to report any suspicious person(s) especially those with bullet wounds". Said Nguroje.
