Ahead of the coronation of Tol Huba slated for Friday this week, the Coronation Committee has hailed Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, of Adamawa state for restoring Huba Chiefdom over 120 years after.
The Chairman of the Committee and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Idi Hong, made the commendation during press conference in Yola Adamawa State on Tuesday.
Dr. Idi Hong who is also the former Minister of Education, said that Governor Fintiri has done Huba community proud in restoring the chiefdom, saying that Huba chiefdom is their right and not a privilege.
He said that chiefdom was fully in existence before the coming of the colonial masters who deposed their chief and exercised absolute authority and full independence, lamenting that Tol Huba was systematically reduced to that of an ungraded District Head under Adamawa Emirate.
"The emergence of Fintiri was the turning point in the quest for the independence of the Huba Chiefdom. With a track record of faimess, justice, equity, transparency, courage, inclusiveness and as one who listens to the wishes and aspirations of people, it was not surprising that His Excellency created the Huba Chiefdom along with 6 other Chiefdoms and Emirates in December 2024.
"The emergence of Fintiri was the turning point in the quest for the independence of the Huba Chiefdom. With a track record of faimess, justice, equity, transparency, courage, inclusiveness and as one who listens to the wishes and aspirations of people, it was not surprising that Governor Fintiri had created the Huba Chiefdom and 6 other Chiefdoms and Emirates". Idi Hong said.
He further created additional Districts out of Huba Chiefdom to bring the total number to fourteen, namely, Hong, Shangui, Pella, Uding, Kulinyi, Hyema, Gaya, Hildi, Mugwahi, Mayo Lope Gashala, Uba, Mufa Dugwaba and Yadul.
He used the opportunity and invited all sons and daughters of the chiefdom within and in diaspora, friends and well wishers to join them in celebrating the restoration of chiefdom and presentation of staff of office Tol Huba, HRM Alheri Bulus Nyako on Friday by Governor Fintiri
