JUST IN: ADHA ESTABLISHES ANTI-CORRUPTION COMMISSION




Adamawa State House of Assembly on Monday, passed a bill for a law to establish anti-corruption commission. NEWS PLATFORM can report.


The Assembly enacted the anti-graft commission in order to complement the effort of other agencies in fighting corruption in the state.


According to the legislators, if assented to by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, the law will promote accountability and transparency as well as address financial crimes.


The legislation entitled " a bill for a law to provide for the establishment of the Adamawa State Anti Corruption Commission", was floated by Hon. Abubakar Isa(Shelleng constituency).


The passage followed the consideration and adoption of the report of the Committee on Judiciary and Entrepreneurship Development headed by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Pwamwakeno Mackondo (Numan), last week.


It was enacted sequel to a motion to that effect by the Majority Leader and Minority Leader, Hon. Japhet Kefas (Gombi) and Hon. Muhammed Mutawali (Girei) respectively.


After the passage of the bill, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, who presided over the sitting, directed the clerk to prepare clean copy for Governor Fintiri's assent.
