FINTIRI SHOWERS PRAISES ON REVENUE BOARD FOR IMPROVING IGR

Impressed by its performance in improving the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of Adamawa State, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has showered praises on the Revenue Board for enhancing revenue profile of the State.

Governor Fintiri, applauded the board under the Chairmanship of Alh. Hamman Adama Njabari, while presenting the 2023 budget proposal at the floor of the State House of Assembly last week.

He told the Assembly that his government had noticed an appreciable improvement in the monthly revenue generation, saying that the board has been rejuvenated/reformed, hence the remarkable achievements.

According to him, “IGR of Adamawa State has commendably improved in recent times, which had greatly contributed to the total revenue of the state, and that the board has been sustaining it.

He disclosed that the board had successfully implemented the statutory rate of fees and levies applicable by law to livestock revenue collections, implemented tax programs which reduce hardship on tax payers and offered online renewal of vehicle licenses.

"All revenue titles were codified and aligned to the standard practice of International Public Sector Accounting Standard (IPSAS). This has further aided the revenue agency to block leakages as non performing revenues are investigated". Fintirti added.

He explained that the revenue laws have been reviewed and passed into law to address grey areas of revenue collections, insisting that this has paved way for an increased revenue generation.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, said that the current situation where petroleum products contribute paltry amounts to the Federation Account indicates that only States that have improved their IGR can survive in the very near future.
