Suugbomsumen Adamu, Suspect
A member of vigilante group in Jada Local Government Area, Adamawa state identified as Yusuf has been shot dead by his step son while testing gun charms' efficacy.
Already, the operatives of the police command have apprehended the step son known as Suugbomsumen Adamu, accused of killing his step father in Sankipo community in the LGA.
The incident occured on Sunday 6th November, 2022 in the community between 5:00pm to 6:00pm.
Yusuf, who was said to be drinking a gin known whiskey, sighted the accused on his way back home on that fateful day where he called him and turned his dane gun on himself and asked him to fire it.
The deceased who allegedly acted under the influence of alcohol was believed to have fortified himself with the protective charms, but that the charms woefully failed him.
NEWS PLATFORM gathered that the deceased turned his loaded dane gun on himself by putting it on his stomarch where he asked the 19 year old culprit to hold it and shoot it.
The accused refused but the deceased insisted that he must do as he had commanded him.
In obedience to his step father's command, the young man pressed the trigger of the gun with his finger and fired it which penetrated and fatally wounded the vigilante as a result of which he gave up his ghost as confirmed by the medical doctor.
When contacted, the image maker of the police command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed the incident, assuring that whoever that is found wanting will be charged to court.
SP Nguroje, cautioned the general public to desist from using firearms and advised those bearing it to strictly abide by the rules and reguilations for safety of their lives and that others.
