WOMAN ACCUSES NEIGHBOUR OF WITCHRAFT..SAYS SHE TURNS TO EVIL BIRD, PURSUE HER IN DREAM

A woman identified as Maryam Yahya, has been dragged before Upper Area Court 4 in Adamawa State for allegedly calling her neighbour a witch.

Maryam, of Hayin Gada in Girei Local Government Area, accused her neighbour known as Charity Samuel, of the same address, of being a witch troubling her life.

The defendant was dragged before the court for criminal trespass, intentional insult and defamation of character contrary to sections 333, 385 and 377 of penal code 2018.

Charity, in a direct criminal complaint marked: UAC4/CR/306/2022/ averred that her neighbour had accused her of being a witch appearing in her dream.

She added that the defandant had accused her of transforming from human being to evil bird and pursuing at night.

She alleged that the defendant invaded her rented apartment, pulled her clothes and accused her of being a witch tormenting her life, saying that incident took place before many people.

According to her, the defendant on several occasions blocked her way, and that the acts of the accused constitute the alleged offences.

The defendant pleaded not guilty.

The presiding judge, Hon. Ibrahim Musa Ulenda, adjourned the matter to 7th November, 2022, for hearing.
