History was made on Friday 17th January, 2025, in Dumne town Song Local Government Area, Adamawa State as peace loving sons and daughters of Yungur community at home and in diaspora came out in their numbers with thunderous jubilation to welcome their Paramount Ruler, His Royal Majesty, Gubo Yungur, Johnson Diyo Matalo. The tumultuous crowd who could not hide their feelings, wholeheartedly welcomed their royal father and his large entourage to the town which is the headquarters of the newly created Yungur Chiefdom.
The Yungur Paramount Ruler, who has since assumed his exalted throne, was accorded a befitting reception by sons and daughters of the land, friends and well wishers who thronged the ancient town to catch the glimpse of historic ascension on the throne of the king.
He was accompanied in his palace by some top government functionaries including the Chief of Staff to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Dr. Edgar Mos Sunday, Member representing Song Constituency at the House of Assembly, Hon. Emmanuel Kefas, Commissioner Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Prambe, Permanent Secretaries Ministry of Justice, Mr. Isuwa Misali and his counterpart of Budget and Planning, Mr. Makallan Akila, Exco of Yungur Area Development Association (YADA).
Others include the Chairman Song LGC, Hon. Idris Yahaya, and his Vice, Hon. Donan Prambe, Sole Administrator Dumne State Development Area, Stephen Garba, District and Village Heads, Religious Leaders, Students, Women Groups, Boys Brigade, traditional dancers and several others who rolled out drums in celebrating the creation of the chiefdom, appointment of the Monarch and his arrival at his coveted palace.
Cross section of Yungur stakeholders who spoke at the historic event, appreciated God for the triumphant entry of the king, and wished him God's protection, sound health and wisdom to enable him succeed in his rein.
While describing the appointment as well deserve, the stakeholders commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for creating Yungur and other Chiefdoms and Emirates, and pledged their unalloyed support and cooperation to him and his people oriented administration.
In his remarks at the event, the Chief of Staff to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Dr. Edgar Amos Sunday, described the day as unique and historic in Yungur land.
Dr. Edgar, applauded the doggedness of Governor Fintiri, in creating the Chiefdom and prayed God to continue to bless and protect him and thanked sons and daughters, friends and well wishers of the land for their contributions which brought about success of the event.
He called on them to remain united for the progress of the chiefdom and further appealed to them to respect and support the new traditional institution.
Also speaking, the Member representing Song Constituency at the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Emmanuel Kefas, thanked Governor Fintiri for his effort in creating Chiefdoms which brought liberation and freedom to communities.
Hon. Emmanuel Kefas, commended the Speaker of the assembly, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, and members of the assembly for enacting the law which created the traditional institutions and appreciated all who accompanied and welcomed the king to his palace.
In his goodwill message, the Commissioner Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Prambe, hailed the creation and appointment of the Chief, and urged respect for the king.
Responding, the Gubo Yungur, Johnson Diyo Matalo, who expressed delight for the warm reception accorded to him, appreciated God for using the Governor to rebirth Yungur land traditionally.
The Royal Father pledged to do his best to justify the confidence reposed in him by the Governor, Yungur Stakeholders and all his subjects whom he described as instrumental to the new course.
He solicited for prayers and support from his subjects to enable him carry out his new assignment with all diligence, and promised lead with fairness, equity and justice to all irrespective of political, economic and ethno religious background.
Earlier, in a welcome address, the National Chairman, Yungur Development Association (YADA), Mr. Philemon Atombita, sought for prayers and support for the new monarch for him to succeed and thanked Governor Fintiri for lifting Yungur nation.
