Adamawa CJ Discharges 140 Inmates, Convicts 90, Admits 72 to Bail

 


Adamawa State Jail Delivery Committee has so far discharged a total of 140 inmates from 3 Custodial Centres.


The committee has also convicted 90, granted bail to 72 and reviewed the sentences of 26 from Jimeta, Yolde Pate, and Yola Old custodial centres currently housing over 1,000 inmates.


The Jail Delivery Committee headed by the Chief Judge, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman, discharged the imnates during the ongoing prison dicongestion. 


At the Yola Old Custodial Centre, the CJ discharged 28 inmates, convicted 6, granted bail to 3 and reviewed the sentences of 10 inmates.


Addressing newsmen shortly after the completion of jail delivery at Yola Old, on Monday, the Chief Judge, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman congratulated the beneficiaries.


She urged them to be of good behaviour and engage in a meaningful ventures for their benefit and that of their families and warned them not to commit crime again.


Responding on behalf of the freed inmates, Nurudeen Aliyu, appreciated the CJ in particular and the committee in general for granting them freedom, and promised on behalf of other beneficiaries to contribute meaningfully in the society.
