Adamawa Gets 22 New Magistrates
The Adamawa State Judiciary has received a boost in its workforce on Monday as 22 newly appointed magistrates were added.
The 22 new magistrates took their oath of office at the high court complex administered by the Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman.
In her remarks shortly after the swearing ceremony, Justice Hafsat, said that their appointment to the revered lower bench could not have come at a better time than now.
The CJ stated that the event serves as a testament to their unwavering dedication to justice, fairness and sacred principles upon which the constitution is founded.
"As you have been sworn-in today, you have undertaken a profound oath to deliver justice impartially and fairly to all individuals who come before you seeking justice.
"Allow me to remind you that this oath is more than mere words; it is a solemn pledge, a promise to stand in place of God Almighty in passing judgment on the affairs of humanity, a role that is indeed next to divine.
"I must emphasize the paramount importance of consistently respecting and upholding the constitutional rights of defendants, especially when addressing the vital matter of granting bail, a fundamental right that lies at the heart of fairness and justice. By law, bail is free", she stated.
She implored them to approach their duties with diligence, unwavering integrity, and a steadfast commitment to excellence, saying that judiciary is not only a cornerstone but also an essential pillar of the democracy.
She assured that they will continue to remain resolute in their pledge to uphold the rule of law and ensuring that the judicial system remains accessible, efficient and effective for every citizen.
She stated that she is deeply grateful for their willingnes to serve, and that she is enthusiastic about collaborating closely to fortify judicial system.
"Let us move forward on this shared journey with a unified sense of purpose, a dedication to unparalleled excellence, and a fervent passion for justice. Together, we hold the potential to construct a judicial system that truly fulfills the needs of our beloved State and its citizens", she added.
Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman used the opportunity and commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his administration's support to the judiciary.
In her goodwill message, the Chairperson Magistrates Association of Nigeria (MAN), Chief Magistrate Uwani Danladi, congratulated them for the appointment.
She told them that the association is proud to welcome them in its fold, saying that their work is demanding but rewarding.
Responding on behalf of the new magistrates, Magistrate Peter Joseph Gyanda, thanked God Almighty for making the event possible and also appreciated the CJ for the appointment and swearing in to serve as magistrates.
Magistrate Peter said that the responsibility is enormous, and that they have accepted it wholeheartedly and assured that they will do justice to all manner of people while discharging their duties.
