Legislators at the Adamawa State House of Assembly have unanimously confirmed the appointment Bashir Ijamulu Yusuf, as the Auditor General for Local Government.
The confirmation followed the consideration and adoption of a letter forwarded to the Assembly by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, where he requested it to confirm the nominee.
Considering the letter, the Majority Leader of the Assembly, Hon. Japhet Kefas, who represents Gombi constituency, said that the nominee has requisite qualification to hold the office.
He urged his colleagues to confirm the nominee as requested by Governor Fintiri, in order to assume office as provided by law.
In their separate contributions, the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Pwamwakeno Mackondo(Numan) and Hon. Abdullahi Umar Yapak(Verre), said that the nominee has the required qualities to pilot the affairs of the office.
After considering the letter, the Majority Leader, Hon. Japhet Kefas, moved for the confirmation of the nominee and seconded by Hon. Abdullahi Umar Yapak.
Thereafter, the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, who presided over the sitting, directed the clerk to communicate the Assembly's resolution to Governor Fintiri.
Reacting on his confirmation, the new Auditor General, Bashir Ijamulu Yusuf, thanked God for the rare privilege He has given to him to be the Auditor General of the LG.
Bashir Ijamulu, also appreciated Governor Fintiri, for finding him to worthy to head the office as well as the Speaker and the Members for confirming his appointment.
He said that he is fully prepared to steer the affairs of the office because according to him, he had been dreaming to head the office for long, saying it is now that his dream becomes a reality.
He disclosed that he had served in the office of the Auditor General for almost 16 years and garnered requisite experience and qualification to man the office.
He appealed to all the staff of the organisation to support him in order to move the office forward, and promised to justify the confidence reposed in him.
Bashir Ijamulu Yusduf, added that all hands must be on deck to see that the policies and programmes of government are implemented.
