Adamawa State Police Command says it has apprehended no fewer than 208 suspects and recovered 7 AK- 47 rifles and locally fabricated guns among other exhibits.
The command disclosed that out of the suspects nabbed in connection to armed robbery, kidnapping, rape, culpable homicide, 108 have since been charged to court for prosecution.
According to the command, AK-47 rifles, locally made pistol, live ammunitions, live cartridges, den gun/pump action SMG gun, motor vehicle, tricycle/motorcycle, military camouflage uniform and hand bag were recovered.
Others include; mats, solar panel, lubricant oil rubber, roasted sheep skull, padlocks/keys/chains, magazine spring, handsets, cutlass/knife/other dangerous weapon and domestic animals among others.
Parading the suspects at the police headquarters on Thursday, the Commissioner of Police, SK Akande, said that the press briefing was to update the general public on the achievements recorded so far.
CP Akande, told newsmen that early this year, the command renewed its commitment and designed a security template to deliver on the mandate of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba.
According to him, from January to date, the command's operatives carried out tactical and intelligence-driven patrols, raiding of criminal hideouts, rescue operations, stop and search operations, community policing engagement of stakeholders among others.
"These operations yielded positive results and a total number of 208 suspects were arrested in connection to kidnapping, amed robbery, cattle rustling and other violent crimes, out of which 108 suspects were charged to court". He added.
He appreciated the government and good people of the State for the continuous support they have been rendering to the command, assuring that all the suspects will be diligently prosecuted on completion of investigation.
