A 19-year-old man has been arrested by the Police in Adamawa state for allegedly threatening to kidnap a man's wife failure to pay N10 million ransom.
The suspect, identified as Hadi Maigari, of Kwanan Yaji in Gombi LGA, had also threatened his victim on the phone that if he does not pay the “ransom”, they would abduct his mother or destroy his house.
Hadi, a herder who hails from Zamfara state, but has been at Kwanan Yaji for over 8 years, admitted having perpetrated the alleged crime.
He confessed that it was one Ahmadu ( now at large) who forwarded the phone numbers of Alh. Iliyasu Bello, of Wauro Jabbe in Yola South LGA and one Buba of Ngurore, whom he had called and threatened.
He put a call to Alh. Iliyasu, where he told him everything about his life, the whereabout of his mother, wife as well as the location of house in Jalingo, Taraba state.
He demanded N10million from Alh. Iliyasu and N1.5million from Buba, respectively or risk abduction, saying that he was planning to buy cattle with the money.
The suspect pleaded with his victim to pardon him and pledged to offer him the sum of N600, 000.
The image maker of the Police Command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed the arrest to NEWS PLATFORM on Monday.
SP Nguroje, explained that the command received a complaint from one Alh. Iliyasu, over threat to his life and that of his family members from unknown persons.
SP Nguroje, said that after receiving the complaint, the Commissioner of Police, CP SK Akande, ordered for immediate investigation into the matter.
He added CSP Ibrahim Muhammad, of the State Intelligence Bureau(SIB) who carried out investigation, succeded in apprehending the 19 year old who confessed to the crime.
