UPDATED: 6 "SHILA" BOYS ARRESTED WITH 14 LAPTOPS AHEAD OF BUHARI's VISIT




Men of the Adamawa State Police Command have arrested 6 suspected "Shila" boys and recovered 14 laptops ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari's visit.


The suspects include; Faisal Abubakar, 18, Abdulsalam Muhammed,  17,  Mahmud Musa, 18, Abdul Aziz Muhammed, 18, Abubakar Jidda,  18, and Christopher Danies, 30 years all of various addresses. 


The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said that the arrest followed a renewed commitment to checkmating crime and criminalty ahead of President Buhari's visit to Yola, the Adamawa State Capital.


SP Nguroje, explained that the Command had on the 7/1/2023, disconnected the criminal network of Shilla gangsterism, connecting Upper and Down Luggere in Yola North Local Government Area and arrested the suspects.


"The suspected Shila boys specialise in burgling and stealing valuable items from peoples' shops and houses within the State Capital." Nguroje added.


He said that the outcome of this commitment designed by the command to ensuring public order, safety and security before, during and after the visit of Mr President, led to the arrest of 6 suspects.

 

"Interestingly, Fourteen (14) computer laptops were recovered from the suspects in the course of investigation." He said.


He extended the commendation of the Commissioner of Police, CP SK Akande, to officers and men for denying the suspects the opportunity to escape arrest.


The CP further directed a total clamp down on criminals who are bent to disrupting the peace of the public, and called on the populace to always inform the police of the whereabouts of criminals and their hideouts.


CP Akande, assured the government and good people of Adamawa state, of sustained effort to dislodging all criminal hideouts and black spots in the state .
