ADAMAWA: 3 MEN FACE COURT FOR STEALING N72. 818 MILLION IN GANYE LGA



Three persons are currently facing trial before the Chief Magistrate I in Yola, Adamawa State, for allegedly stealing the sum of N72.818million in Ganye LGA.


The defendants standing trial before the court include: Abdulrashed Waziri, 36, Richard Moses, 42 and Uche Sunday, 32 for the alleged offences.


They were arraigned before the court for the alleged offences of theft by clerk or servant, misappropriation and criminal breach of trust.


Abdulrashed, and 2 other defendants allegedly made away with the sum of N72.818million belonging to Saro Agro-Science Limited located in Ganye Local Government Area.


According to the prosecution, Abdulrashed, a Store Keeper, Richard, Market Sales Rep and Uche, Van Sales Rep of the company conspired and perpetrated the crime without the prior knowledge of the management.


Arraigning the defendants, the Prosecutor, ASP Zakka Musa, informed the court that one Olajide Oladeji of Investment Quarters Tunfure in Gombe state who is also the Regional Business Head of the company reported the matter to the Adamawa State Police Command.


ASP Zakka said that Olajide had reported that on the 25 September, 2023, the Location Manager supervising Ganye Office, Caleb Akinteye had discovered that the affected staff stole the company's money.


The defendants had sold the products of the company and realised the sum of N48million and kept the cash at the warehouse of the company in Ganye LGA on Saturday.


On their resumption of work on Monday with an intention of depositing the money in the bank, the defendants could not see the money and there was no case of burglary at the warehouse. 


Likewise, after the management had audited it stocks at the warehouse, it found out that over N24million stocks were missing which brings total to N72.818million.


On their arraignment before the judge, Muhammed Buba, before his elevation to DCR, all the defendants pleaded not guilty to the allegations slammed against them by the prosecution.
