Adamawa State House of Assembly on Thursday, confirmed 7 nominees as members of the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission. News Platform
Those screened and confirmed by the include: Mohammed Umar Jabu, Love Zidon, Emmanuel Anuhu Abba, Gidado Abdulsalam , Mark Balanso, Suleiman Yahaya Sudi and Mohammed Tuki.
The confirmation followed the screening of the nominees by the House Standing Committee on Public Petitions, Public Service and Electoral Matters.
The committee is headed by the Member representing Shelleng constituency, Hon. Bulus Kantomon Napthali.
Earlier, Hon. Kantomon, presented the report of his committee at the plenary session presided by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley.
Hon. Kantomon, informed the hallowed chamber that his committee had invited the nominees who appeared in person and submitted their CVs, and other relevant documents during screening exercise.
He said his committee found out that the nominees obtained the required minimum educational qualifications to hold public offices as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution as amended.
According to him, the nominees were drawn from the 3 Senatorial zones of the State and that all of them answered the questions put to them by the committee members.
He urged his colleagues to consider the report of the committee and confirmed the nominees, and thanked the Speaker for the mandate.
After the consideration of the report by the lawmakers, the Majority Leader and Member representing Demsa constituency, Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno, moved for the confirmation of the nominees and seconded by the Hon. Geoffrey Bulus(Leko Koma).
Thereafter, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, announced the confirmation and directed the Clerk to communicate the resolution of the assembly to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
