The newly elected Executive Council members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Adamawa State have been officially inaugurated to pilot affairs of the Christian body for the next 5 years.
The epoch event which took place at St. Monica Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN) in Jimeta Yola, had in attendance top Government officials, traditional rulers and members of the Christian body in the state from different denominations from far and near.
Those inaugurated include: Rev. Dr. Joel Danjuma Manzo as Chairman, Rev. Dr. Victor Saje as Vice Chairman, Rev. Emeka Obionyo Secretary, Rev. Gambo Bupwada as Assistant Secretary while Rev. Dr. Malacy Wache will served as Treasurer.
Also inaugurated are departmental sub-heads of the association which include Barr. Victor Eze as Director, Legal and Public Affairs, Apostle Dr. Rufus Director Ecumenism and inter-faith, while Pastor Ishaku Shehu will serve as Director, State issues and welfare.
Others are Evangelist Haruna Donge as Director, Planning, Research and Strategy, while David Simon Dzalla will served as Director of Education, Women and Youth.
While presiding over the inauguration ceremony, the National President of the Association, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, who was represented by the National Secretary of the association Prof. Samson Fatokun, said that the CAN National Headquarters is confident that the new CAN Executive will perform better and urged them to be just and fair while discharging their duties.
Bishop Okoh, commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his equal treatment to religious bodies in the state and advised the new CAN leadership to act accordingly.
The Adamawa State Deputy Governor Prof. Kaletapwa George Farauta, who was represented by the State Commissioner of Women Affairs Wunfe Anthony, called on religious leaders to continue in promoting peaceful coexistence while Government on its part will provide all necessary support to the new CAN Executive to succeed.
She stated that the Government under the leadership of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri will continue to ensure unity and peaceful coexistence abound in the state and commended the association past leaders for discharging their duties effectively.
The new State CAN Chairman Rev. Dr. Joel Danjuma Manzo, in his speech called on people of the state to live in peace with one another.
He pledged commitment towards consolidating on the legacies of the immediate past president of the association in the state Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza, and called for more support and prayers for the new CAN Executive to succeed.
