Hama Batta Bestows Traditional Titles on Numan Lawmaker, 5 others

 


The Hama Batta, HRM, Homun Alhamdu Gladstone Teneke, has  bestowed prestigious traditional title of " Zamburamo Batta" on the Member representing Numan constituency at the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Pwamwakeno Mackondo.


The traditional titles were conferred on the Lawmaker along side Hon. Chief Barr. A. K. Jingi, Attorney General and Commissioner Ministry of Justice Adamawa state as "Impah Batta", Hon. Chief Maurice Vunobolki, PhD as "Dyapa Batta, Chief Dr. (Mrs.) Bridget Zidon as "Gbindatu Batta" among others.


The event held at the palace of Hama Batta on Saturday, was graced by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, represented by the Chief of Staff Government House Yola, Dr. Edgar Amos Sunday, Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, represented by Hon. Adun John Alaba (Uba-Gaya), Hon. Commissioners, Paramount Rulers several other dignitaries, sons and daughters of Batta kingdom as well as friends and well wishers.



According to the Paramount Ruler, Batta traditional council conferred the traditional title on the Legislator, Rt. Hon. Mackondo, in recognition of his exemplary leardership, saying that his dedication to uplifting the lives of his constituents through numerous life changing projects and empowerment of women, youth among others singles him out; hence, the need to honour him.


Speaking at the event, Governor Ahmadu Umaru congratulated the recepients of the prestigious titles, saying that the honour is a testament to enduring values of honour and service to the community.


Governor Fintiri, said that their honour and celebration is a reflection of their outstanding contributions to the development of their communities, their dedication to the cultural heritage of Batta kingdom and their examplary character in public and private life.


Fintiri who was represented at the event by the Chief of Staff Government House Yola, Dr. Edgar Amos Sunday, commended the Hama Batta for his wisdom, foresight and steadfast commitment to the preservation and promotion of rich Batta culture and tradition.



He said that under the rein of His Royal Majesty, Batta Chiefdom contnues to serve as a beacon of unity, peace and progress, saying that traditional rulers remain vital partners in governance and grassroots development especially in peace building and security.


"We will continue to work hand in hand with our traditional institutions to strengthen peace and promote social cohesion and drive inclusive development across all corners of our state", said Fintiri.


According to him, the recognition comes with both pride and responsibility, urging them to consider it as a call to greater service to Batta kingdom and Adamawa state in general.


In his remarks, the Hama Batta, HRM, Homun Alhamdu Gladstone Teneke, disclosed that he had bestowed prestigious traditional titles on the distinguished sons and daughters of Bwatiye land considering their significant contributions and services to humanity.


Hama Batta tasked them not to relent in their efforts in putting smiles in the faces of human and urged them to join hands with other title holders in moving the council forward.


In his vote of thanks on behalf of the newly turbaned title holders, the Attorney General and Commissioner Ministry of Justice, Hon. A. K. Jingi, appreciated the Royal Father for the honour.


Hon. Jingi pledged their unwavering support to the First Class Chief and Batta traditional council and promised to coorporate with other title holders for the progress of the council and the entire chiefdom. 


Earlier, in his welcome address, the Chairman Demsa LGC, Hon. Akham Jalo congratulated the celebrants for the honour done to them by the royal father and wished them well in their service to humanity.


Hon. Akham hailed the Paramount Ruler for recognising new title holders and urged them to continue to contribute positively for the development of Batta Chiefdom.



Meanwhile, Hon. Mackondo who is the former Deputy Speaker of the Assembly has organised a civic reception at Imbru, his home town in Numan LGA shortly after the turbaning ceremony aimed at celebrating the honour done to him.


In his remarks at the reception, Rt. Hon. Pwamwakeno Mackondo, said that he is very overwhelmed with the honour and described the day as one of his happiest day in his life.


Rt. Hon. Mackondo said that he had received the title wholeheartedly and with dedication and pledged to coorporate with other title holders to promote the cultures and values of Batta chiefdom forward.


The PDP Lawmaker who is also the Chairman House Committee on Planning Commission further described the event as historic which according to him will remain ever green in his heart.


He used the opportunity and thanked Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Speaker ADHA, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, his colleagues Hama Batta and his traditional council, dignitaries and loved ones for their support which brought about success of the event.


He appealed to his electorate to rally round him to enable him continue to contribute meaningfully for the progress of the Bwatiye land, saying that what he needs from them is total support and loyalty and assured that everybody will have a course to rejoice and the end of it.


In her goodwill message at the reception, the Commissioner Ministry of Woman Affairs, Hon. Neido Kofulto, said that they have gathered to celebrate with him and encourage him to do more for his electorate and applauded his recognition.


On his part, Alh. Bello Dan Musa of Dangote Sugar Refinery, said that Hon. Mackondo was honoured because of his effort in promoting peace and stability and urged him not to relent in providing good leadership.
