Sen Amos Yohanna Calls for Accelerated Passage of Fed Eye Centre Bills




The Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Amos K. Yohanna, has called on the Senate to give accelerated consideration and passage to the reports on the Federal Eye Centre, Ochadamu, Kogi State, and the Federal Eye Centre, Jimeta, Adamawa State Establishment Bills.


Speaking on the floor of the Senate Chamber, Senator Yohanna who is also a member of the Senate Committee on Health presented the Committee’s report along with its recommendations for consideration by the Senate.


The bill for the establishment of the Federal Eye Centre in Ochadamu, Kogi State was sponsored and presented by Senator Isa Jibrin Echocho while the bill for the establishment of the Federal Eye Centre in Jimeta, Adamawa State was presented by Senator Aminu Iya Abbas, who represents Adamawa Central Senatorial District.


Senator Yohanna informed the Senate that the Committee, after conducting a thorough review and due diligence, examined all the clauses in both bills and proposed necessary amendments to strengthen their legal and operational frameworks. 


He urged his colleagues to give both bills accelerated hearing and support their speedy passage into law.


The establishment of these centres is expected to improve access to specialized eye care services in the North Central and North East regions, respectively, and contribute significantly to the overall health infrastructure of the nation.
