INSECURITY: LCCN CALLS FOR PROACTIVE MEASURES TO END RELIGIOUS, ETHNIC VIOLENCE
The Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN) has expressed concerns over growing insecurity which results in the loss of hundreds of lives at different parts of the Country in recent times particularly in Plateau state, Hong LGA in Adamawa state among other parts
At the Church's General Council held at its headquarters in Numan Adamawa state, the Leader of the Church, Archbishop Musa Panti Filibus queried that it is not enough for the FG to only condemn the acts of the perpetrators and condole relatives of casualties but that justice must be seeing to be done by arresting and bringing perpetrators to book.
The Lutheran Archbishop posited that it is unfortunate that Nigeria is gradually becoming a Country where human life means nothing as on daily basis, citizens have continued to die either as a result of bandits' attacks, insurgents' terrorism or across religious and ethnic lines
Archbishop of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria LCCN Most Rev Musa Panti Filibus reminded the Nation's government of its topmost responsibility which is to protect lives and property.
On the need to forge ahead as a Church in these trying moments, the spiritual leader told the gathering that they must be weary of false teachings and doctrines but admonished them to remain steadfast through sound doctrines and not overtaken by entertainment in the name of worship in the Church
He equally cautioned against using technology and social media for the wrong reasons but instead explore the positivity of social media to advance the gospel of Christ
Tasking them to be light in a world that is full of darkness, Filibus admonished the attendants to prioritize mentoring of youths and children to adopt better ways of living as the world tries on daily basis to offer them a negative alternative
The General Church Council of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria LCCN is a gathering of decision making body of the Church headed by the Archbishop, the diocesan Bishops, Deans, Districts and resident Pastors, down lay leaders and Church Council members
