Just In: ADHA Summons 21 LGC Chairmen over Performance



The Adamawa State House of Assembly has summoned all the 21 Local Government Council Chairmen to appear on the floor of the assembly in order to account for their stewardship in the last oner year. News Platform 


The LGC Bosses are expected to start appearing at the hallowed chamber for an oversight interface on the 5th August, 2025, as resolved by the lawmakers.


According to the assembly, every Chairman shall come along with the following key documents and information including a comprehensive scorecard summarizing achievements and activities over the past year.


Other documents include a copy of annual budget and a performance report indicating budget implementation status, details of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), sources, monthly breakdowns, and expenditure.


The affected Chairmen are also expected to come along with records of all completed and ongoing projects, including locations, contract amounts, and contractors.


Others are employment records, including number of staff employed, roles, and current staff disposition list across departments as well as records of statutory allocation for the period.


The lawmakers warned that failure to appear or submit any of the requested documents shall be seen as a breach of accountability and may warrant further legislative action against any Chairman.


The above resolutions were unanimously adopted during Wednesday, plenary as suggested by the Member representing Numan Constituency, Hon. Pwamwakeno Mackondo, who moved the motion to that effect.


Earlier, presenting his motion under matters of public importance, Hon. Mackondo, urged the assembly to invite all the Chairmen to appear on the floor of the assembly for oversight briefing for clocking one year in office.


The lawmakers said, " Today, I rise  under the provision of Section 128 (1) (a) (b) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), which empowers this Hon. Assembly to direct or cause to be directed an investigation into the conduct of any person or authority charged with the duty of administering funds State and its Local Government Councils.


"It is exactly one year since the curent Local Government Chairmen were sworn into office. It is therefore, both Constitutional and responsible that we conduct an oversight review of their activities and performance in the interest of transparency, accountability, and good governance.


Hon. Mackondo told his colleagues that oversight by the legislature ensures that funds are utilised efficiently and for the benefit of the grassroots population, saying that the electorate deserve to know the performance of their elected Chairmen in the last one year.


He urged the assembly to exercise due diligence by holding their LGCs Chairmen accountable, explaining that the exercise is not to witch-hunt anybody but to guide and encourage improved governance at the grassroots.


Speaking on the motion, the Member representing Mubi South Constituency, Hon. Sahabo Yohanna Jauro, stated that it is timely to invite them to tell their electorate what is happening at the LGCs.


Hon. Sahabo said that inviting them is part of their constitutional responsibility and commended Hon. Mackondo, for initiating the matter.


Other lawmakers including the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Muhammed Buba Jijiwa (Jada Mbulo), Hon. Umar Bobbo Ismail (Fufore Gurin), Hon. Paul Samuel (Mubi North) and Hon. Kabiru Mijinyawa (Yola South) supported the motion and applauded its sponsor.


Thereafter, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, who presided the sitting, directed the Clerk to communicate the resolutions to the authorities concerned.
