State Vs Sheriff: Nyako Operated Sebore Farms Illegally- CAC Tells Court



The Adamawa State High Court on Thursday, heard that former Governor Murtala Nyako, operated 2 of his companies without formal registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).


The court presided by the Chief Judge, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman, was told that the Sebore Farms Limited and Sebore Farms Export Processing Zone and Ashran Nig. Limited were not registered with the commission.


The Head of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) Adamawa State, Alkassim Ahmad, made the startling revelation while giving testimony in the case against ACP Sherrif Abubakar Rabiu, Chief Security Officer (CSO) to former Gov Nyako  


Sheriff has been standing trial since 2021 for allegedly converting 2 landed properties worth N80 million which he had purchased in the name of Sebore farms to himself and sold same properties at a later date.


While testifying in court as DW2, Ahmad informed the court that the Sebore Farms Limited and Sebore Farms Export Processing Zone and Ashran Nig. Limited marked as exhibits DW1 FA and DW1 F are not in the data base of the Commission.


He also confirmed to the court that the commission was in receipt of the witness summons issued to them and showed a letter from the Corporate Affairs Commission headquarters Abuja which directed him to represent the Commission.


The witness through his Counsels, Abubakar Ali esq and Roland C. Enem, tendered the witness summons as well as th letter which were admitted in evidence and marked as exhibits DW2 A and DW2 BA.


The documents were tendered and admitted in evidence without objection from the prosecution counsels. J. A. Waya (Director Civil Litigation Ministry of Justice), D. I. Kulthu (State Counsel I) and K. O. Abdullahi.


Under cross examination, the witness told the court that all the transactions of the commission are online, and that the commission has started online operations since 2005.


After the testimony of the DW2, the court adjourned the matter to the 14th October, 2025 for continuation of trial.
