Yola Flooding: Senator Adamawa Central Donates 10Million, Relief Materials to Victims
Senator representing Adamawa Central Senatorial District, Aminu Iya Abbas, has donated N10 million to victims of flooding in Yola South LGA.
Aside the money, the Senator equally donated bags of rice, maize, mats, blankets and sundry relief materials to the victims.
Senator donated the N10million as well as the items on Wednesday, while on the spot assessment of the level damages caused by the recent flooding.
He commiserated with the victims as well as prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives in the incidents.
While addressing the victims of the flooding in some areas visited, Senator Abbas assured them of his commitment towards providing them with necessary support to ameliorate their suffering.
He commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, National Emergency Management Agency ,NEMA, North East Development Commission ,NEDC, Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), Red Cross, among other relevant agencies for their support to the victims.
He noted that the level of devastation caused by the flood was enormous in virtually all the areas affected, noting that he will raise the issue once again at the floor of the Senate to explore the possibilities of collaborative efforts of governments at all levels to provide the necessary input to safeguard lives and properties of the people.
Receiving the items at Aliyu Mustafa College, Yola the Permanent Secretary Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency, Mrs. Celine Laori appreciated him for coming to the aid of the victims and promised the judicious use of the items donated.
Some of the victims while speaking during the visit expressed gratitude for the gesture, describing him as a representative who puts the interest of his people above his own personal interest.
