Police Foil Kidnap Attempt, Nab 2 Suspects in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended two suspected kidnappers in connection to a threat to kidnap a resident of Song LGA.

The operatives of the command recovered SIM Card, Handset, others from the suspects according a release by the Spokesman of the Command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje.

SP Nguroje explained that the arrest followed a complaint from one Hassan Musa Dabutu of Song LGA, who had reported receiving threatening calls from an unknown subscriber, that they are coming to kidnap him unless he pays a certain amount of money.

According to him, the complainant also raised concern that his family had earlier suffered a series of kidnappings, where a total sum of twenty million naira (₦20,000,000.00) was paid as ransom to secure the release of abducted family members.

He said that it was as a result of that that the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, directed operatives from the State Intelligence Department (SID) to commence investigation.

"Luckily enough, a 15-year-old suspect, Abdulraman Musa of Nguru, and Adamu Orte, a 60-year-old man from Machina, Yobe State, were arrested.

"Investigation is ongoing and the suspects will be prosecuted upon completion of the investigation", said Nguroje.

He pointed out that the CP had reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in the state.
