Adamawa ADC Hails Coalition, Says Party Intact, United under Yohanna
African Democratic Congress (ADC), Adamawa State chapter has hailed the adoption of the party by the coalition of opposition leaders as their platform for the 2027 general election.
The leadership of the party assured that ADC is legitimate, intact, united and strong under its Chairman, Comrade Shehu Yohanna and its Governorship Candidate in 2023 general election in Adamawa State, Alh. Mohammed Usman Shuwa.
It debunked rumors making rounds about resignation of some party officials, saying "no one has resigned, or will resign; no structure has been dissolved and no structure will be dissolved"
The Chairman of the party in the state, Comrade Shehu Yohanna stated this during press conference in Yola, Adamawa State.
Comrade Shehu Yohanna said that ADC in Adamawa State Chapter is committed to playing a constructive role in shaping the future of Adamawa and the nation at large.
"We are honored to have them on board and look forward to working together to build a stronger, more inclusive, and more prosperous, Adamawa State in particular, and Nigeria in general. Their decision to join our party is a testament to the ADC's growing influence, strength, and relevance in Nigerian politics.
"I want to affirm that the current leadership structure of the ADC in Adamawa State is legitimate and intact, united and strong contrary to any rumors or speculations making the rounds, saying no one has resigned, and no one will resign; no structure has been dissolved and no structure will be dissolved.
"The tenure of the current Chairman and his Exco will expire in December 2026. Until then, ADC leadership in Adamawa State remains united, strong and committed to the ideals of the party and will continue to work tirelessly to promote our agenda.
"We have a robust organizational structure in place, and our leaders are dedicated to serving the people of Adamawa State as we prepare to take over the government house in 2027". He stated.
He urged the party faithful to respect the constitution of as well as the established leadership structure of party, saying that the constitution guides their operations, and that they expect all members to abide by its provisions.
He said, "We are open to working with anyone and everyone who shares our vision for a better Adamawa State and a better Nigeria, but we must do so in a manner that respects our party's rules and structures.
"We will continue to engage with our new members and ensure that they are integrated into our party's activities in line with our constitutional provisions and guidelines".
According to him, ADC is committed to building a Nigeria that is just, equitable, and prosperous for all. Our party's vision is to create a society where every citizen has access to opportunities, resources, and services that enable them to reach their full potential.
He added that the party believes in the principles of democracy, transparency, and accountability, and we will work tirelessly to promote these values in our state and nation.
Comrade reassured the people of Adamawa State that the ADC is committed to providing a viable alternative to the current political establishment under my able leadership as State Chairman supported by all my State Working Committee Members.
"We will work hard to build a strong, inclusive, and effective party structure that will enable us to deliver on our promises to the people. We are confident that with the support of our members, supporters, and the people of Adamawa State, we can and we will take over the governance of Adamawa State and make a positive difference in our state", he stated.
He used the opportunity and informed members and teeming supporters that the ADC will be participating fully and actively in the forthcoming bye-elections into the Adamawa State House of Assembly in Ganye LGA in August 2025.
