Alimat Care Foundation Launches Indigenous Erosion Control in Adamawa LGA




A new initiative aimed at combating erosion and improving livelihoods through indigenous and climate-smart agricultural practices was officially launched today at Gella community in Mubi South LGA.


The project, titled "Indigenous Erosion Control Through Climate-Smart Agricultural Practices in Gella, Mubi South LGA, Adamawa State".


The project is being implemented by the Alimat Care Foundation (a youth-led non-organization) with funding support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme (GEF-SGP).


The launch event saw a significant turnout, with community leaders, Local Government Area (LGA) officials, and enthusiastic community members all who witnessed the inauguration of this vital environmental project.


A highlight of the event was the address by the National Chairperson of the SGP Steering Committee, who graced the occasion. 


In her address Ms Asmau Joda underscored the importance of local participation and urged the Gella community to take full ownership of the project. 


This call to action emphasizes that community involvement is paramount to ensuring the long-term success and sustainability of the erosion control efforts.


This project is expected to empower the Gella community with sustainable agricultural techniques that not only mitigate erosion but also contribute to climate resilience, fostering a healthier environment and more secure livelihoods for its residents.
