ADHA Passes Resolutions to End Bachama/Chobo Clashes



The Adamawa State House of Assembly has passed a 3-points resolutions aimed ending Bachama/Chobo clashes in Lamurde LGA, Adamawa state.


The resolutions followed the recent clashes between Bachama and Chobo communities in Lamurde LGA.


The recent clashes resulted in destruction of property as well as the alleged shooting and killing of 10 women by the soldiers.


It is against this backdrop that the assembly passed resolutions as part of effort towards ending the recurring clashes between the communities.


Part of the resolutions passed by the lawmakers include a call on Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri led administration to immediately investigate the root cause of the shooting that led to ihe death of the 10 women leaving 23 wounded.


The investigation according to the resolution will enable the government identify the perpetrators and prevent future occurrence of the heinous crime against humanity.


The assembly constituted a committee to visit to Numan General Hospiial as well as Yola Adamawa-German Medical Centreto assess the condition of the victims and determine areas of intervention.


The legislators directed the Adamawa State Emmengecy Management Agency, the Ministry of Humanitaian Affairs, social support agencies and other relevant agencies to provide immediate assistance to the victim and their families including medical support, relief materials and psychological care.


The action by the assembly followed matter of urgent public importance sponsored by the member representing Lamurde Constituency, Hon. Bauna Myandasa at the resumed plenary during the week.


While moving the motion earlier, Hon. Bauna, briefed his colleagues on the in the incident and the alleged shooting and killing of the women by the military.


Hon. Bauna told the assembly that the development did not only throw families into mouning but also created fear and tension within the community an his constituency at large.


The Lawmaker stated that as the representatives of the people, it is their moral and constitutional responsibility to respond swiftly and decisively to prevent further loss of lives and property and ensure peace, justice, law and order in the constituency.


Several lawmakers who commented on the motion, condemned the clashes which resulted in the killings of the women and sympathised with the victims of the incident.


Thereafter, the speaker of the assembly, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, directed the clerk to the assembly to communicate the resolutions to the relevant authorities.
