Gambo Nakura Returns to Prison as Court Reserves Ruling in Bail Application

A Yola High Court in Adamawa State on Wednesday, reserved ruling in bail application filed by the Chairman Concerned Citizens Adamawa State, Alh. Husseini Bello Gambo Nakura. News Platform

The court will also rule in the preliminary objection against the bail application filed by the Registrar, Chief Magistrate Court II as well as the Commissioner of Police Adamawa State.

The court presided by Justice Christopher Dominic Mapeo, reserved the ruling after hearing in the preliminary objection as well as the bail application filed before him.

After hearing all the arguments canvassed and adoption of written addresses by the Counsels to the parties involved, the court reserved the ruling and said the date will be communicated to all the parties as soon as possible.

Gambo Nakura who has been remanded in prison custody since 10th September, 2025, approached the high court, praying it to grant him bail and quash the proceedings of the Chief Magistrate Court II which remanded him.

Addressing the court earlier, Counsel to the Applicant, E. O. Odo, said that their motion on notice before the court is seeking for bail of the applicant who has been in custody for 14 days.

Odo urged the court to grant his client bail as prayed, saying that the lower court had admitted him to bail on impossible condition that it is only one person in the whole world that can be his surety.

He said that his client is not in the same political party with the surety, and that as a politician the surety will not want to identify with him not to talk of standing for him, saying that the court has simply denied his client bail.

He urged the court to review the bail condition, quash the proceedings of the lower court and exercise its power in favour of the applicant by granting him bail.

Responding, Counsel to the respondents, J. A. Waya (DCL), adopted his preliminary objection and the reply on points of law and urged the court to decline jurisdiction.

Waya argued that the applicant did not depose anything before the court to show that he is from different political party with the surety, saying that it amounts to speculation.

He told the court that the issue that the applicant is battling with spinal cord injury, malaria and random blood sugar is a gimmick to deceive the court and urged the court to refuse the application.
