ADHA Lawmaker Emmanuel Kefas Disburses N50million Cash to Constituents



The Member representing Song Constituency at the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Emmanuel Kefas, has disbursed a total sum of N50million to his electorate across his constituency.


The beneficiaries of the gesture, who cut across 11 political wards of Song constituency, smiled home with categories of amount of money allocated to them by the lawmaker.


The constituency allowances which was disbursed to over 650 beneficiaries through Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA), was aimed at empowering them to boost or set up small businesses.


Speaking while flagging off the disbursement of the allowances to the beneficiaries at Presidential Lodge in Song LGA, Hon. Emmanuel Kefas, congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to judiciously utilise the money to help themselves and their families.


Hon. Emmanuel Kefas, applauded Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for giving constituency allowances to the lawmakers, saying that his support to the assembly is commendable.


He said, "I stand before you today with a heart full of gratitude to God Almighty and to you the good people of Song Constituency, for entrusting me with the responsibility of representing you at the Adamawa State House of Assembly.


"Today, marks 2 years of our journey together, and I am here to humbly present the account of my stewardship.


He said he has actively contributed to debates, sponsored motions and supported bills that promote good governance, social justice, and development, saying that through his participation, he had ensured that the interests of Song constituency is protected.


According him, he had played his part towards the creation of three (3) new districts including Dumne, Chibawuro and Gben Districts and the creation of Yungur Chiefdom.


He said that he had sponsored a bill for the establishment of the Adamawa indigenous languages commission, and that as Chairman of the committee on security, he had led efforts at the assembly to adopt resolutions to maintain peace and order.


On infrastructure and community projects, he revealed that he had provided transformers in Koti and Balma communities of Dirma and Suktu Ward to improve electricity supply, facilitated the rehabilitation of potholes at Loko - Dumne road, drilled boreholes, handpumps and rehabilitated others across several wards includes, Dirma, Dumne, Song Waje, Sigire, Gudu/Mboi, Suktu Zumo, Song Gari and others. 


He said that the projects brought relief to communities long plagued by lack of portable drinking water, introduced scholarship and bursary schemes for over 150 students across tertiary institutions and donated educational materials such as chalks, and exercise books to schools in Song LGA. 


He pointed out that he had constructed 2 classrooms and office at Dolom Primary School, and the ongoing construction of 3 lassrooms and office at Jakida Primary School, and renovated Schools at Sokoron, Mai Gero, Roma, Salasa and Mosque in Dirma, Waltadi Suktu, Song Waje and Song Gari Wards respectively. 


He told the gathering that he had initiated empowerment programs for youths and women, including the distribution of cash to over 1,000 beneficiaries and 25 sewing machines. 


On health sector, he said had organized medical outreaches that benefited over 150 people approximately, providing treatments and medicines, distributed first aid drugs treatments, and other essential medical supplies to Ba’awo Community during Cholera outbreak in Sigire Ward. 


" I purchased of Toyota Yaris Car for the former PDP Chairman Song LGA Alh. Ali Buba Laka. The rehabilitation of Primary Health Care Clinic at Pulle-Yanka, Dumne Ward is ongoing," he said.


During flooding and other emergencies, he said he had ensured quick response by providing relief materials to supporting victims, saying he had remained committed to ensuring accessibility, accountability, and continuous engagement with you, the people who elected me. 


In his comments, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Fintiri on Entrepreneurship, Prof. Hayatudeen Zumo, said Song constituency is proud of the Lawmaker, explaining that the money is meant to assist them to start smale scale business to become self reliant in the society.


In his remarks, the Director General of PAWECA, Dr. Michael Zira, who was represented by the Director Monitoring and Evaluation, Salihu Abdulkadir, commended the member for empowering his constituents.


The DG disclosed that Hon. Emmanuel Kefas is the first State Lawmakers to reach out to his electorate with constituency allowances with a view to fighting poverty, saying that the constituency allowances was channelled through PAWECA and it is the agency that will disburse it.


He said that the effort of the Member in replicating Governor Fintiri led administration in eradicating poverty is worth emulating and called on Song electorate to support the member to enable his continue in providing quality representation.


On his part, the Director Procurement of the agency, Thomas Hindi, appealed to the beneficiaries to judiciously utilise the resources for the purpose intended.


Baring his mind, the Executive Chairman Song LGC, Hon. Idris Yahaya, saluted the member for his wonderful represention, and pledged the readiness of Song constituency towards supporting him.


In their separate goodwill messages, some stakeholders from Song Zone(Hon. Barkindo Hammajoda) Mboi Zone(Hon. Aminu Zwal) Zumo Zone(Professor Salihu Hayatu) as well as Yungur Zone(Hon. Haruna Aminu), collectively extolled the member for his outstanding commitment to empowerment programme, describing the programme as impctful.


Fielding questions from newsmen, cross section of the beneficiaries said that they have since received their alerts, assuring that the money will go along way helping them and their families.
