Immigration Officer Docked for Assaulting Neighbours' Wife in Adamawa

An Upper Area Court II sitting in Yola, Adamawa State on Monday, docked an Officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Adamawa State Command, Daniel Daniran David, over multiple allegations.

The court presided by Hon. Japhet Ibrahim Basani, docked the officer following a direct criminal complaint lodged before the court by the complainants through their Counsel, H. E. Turaso Esq.

The Officer was dragged to court for the offences of public nuisance, neglect conduct, hurt, criminal force and assault under sections 153, 167, 217, 240 and 241 of Adamawa state penal code law Adamawa state.

In their complaint, Yusuf Adamu Ziradzo and his Wife, Precious Ndogolare Yusuf, informed the court that they reside in the same compound with the defendant at Jifiya suits in Jimeta, Yola North LGA.

The complainants told court that at about 1am to 2am on the 6th September, 2025, after they had entered and retired to beds, the Wife noticed that their main gate was opened, and decided to go out and close it.

According to them, the victim decided to close the gate following an attempt by some hoodlums to rob their apartment in the past.

The complainants averred that after closing the gate, sometimes later, the defendant returned back and called on the victim to open the gate for him and that when she had opened it, the defendant demanded to know who closed the gate and he was told it was the 2nd complaint.

They alleged that after the defendant had heard that it was the 2nd complainant, he went straight to the window of the complainants and sprayed tear gas through their window where all the complainants were sleeping with their 4 children.

They asserted that immediately the children were choked and started coughing and sneezing and were running about the bedroom, and that action startled the 1st complaint as he realised what was happening to his family.

According to them, they rushed to the hospital and received treatment and that the children suffered shock and had begged their parents not to return back home.

When the substance of the complaint was read to the defendant following an application by Counsel to the complainants, H. E. Turaso, he pleaded not guilty to the offences.

Thereafter, Counsel to the defendant, D. S. Adebole Esq, applied for the bail of the defendant, assuring that the defendant has a reliable surety to stand for him.

The court granted the application and admitted the defendant to bail and adjourned the case to 25th September, 2025 for report of settlement or commencement of hearing.
