76 YEAR OLD MAN IN COURT OVER THREAT TO DESTROY MANHOOD OF ADAMAWA JUDICIAL OFFICER


An Official of Adamawa State Judiciary has dragged a 76 year old retired Fire Service Officer, Gilbert Dan to Chief Magistrate Court II, Yola for threatening to destroy his manhood on account of alleged enticing his 59 year old wife.

The 76 year old Gilbert has been charged to court for alleged defamation of character contrary to Section 377 of the Adamawa State Penal Code Law.

Both the Judicial Staff who does not want his name in print, and the defendant reside in Jambutu, Yola North Local Government Area in the state.

Trouble broke out when the suspect was reported to had publicly accused the judicial officer of chasing his 59 year old lovely wife.

The accused was said to had been peddling the allegation long before the last count without mentioning the name of the Judicial Officer until on Sunday, 7th March, 2020.

Gilbert was said to had mentioned the name of the complainant on the aforementioned date when he came back from hunting where he caught a hedgehog (Bushiya in Hausa) which he used in threatening to damage the manhood of the complainant, so as to prevent him from going after his wife.

According to the complainant, the suspects told people around their compound that it was the small animal that he had been looking for to enable him deal with the problem once and for all, saying that by the time he slaughters the animal, the manhood of the Judicial Officer will become dysfunctional.

Worried by the threat, the Judicial Officer approached the Magistrate Court on 9th March, 2020, and lodged a direct criminal complaint against the defendant.

The Complainant told the court in his particulars of complainant that the act of the defendant against him amounts to criminal intimidation and defamation of character.

When the case came for mention before Honourable Ibrahim Ulenda led Magistrate Court on Thursday, the accused person pleaded not guilty of the act, but urged the court to give him time to prepare for his defence as he has witnesses to assemble before the court.

The court however adjourned the matter to 26th March, 2020 for hearing and granted the accused person bail on grounds of his age.

Though, the presiding judge had earlier ordered that the retired Fire Service Officer be remanded in prison custody for his failure to plea for bail, but later asked him to bring a surety to bail him.

In a chat with NEWS PLATFORM, the complainant alleged that for the past 7 years the suspect had been accusing him of chasing his 59 year old wife, saying as person who knows the law, he was patiently waiting for the day he will mention his name.

He said many people came to his house on Sunday, and were asking him whether there is any problem between him and the accused considering how he was moving around with the animal and telling people that he is going to destroy his manhood.
