Former Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Kabiru Mijinyawa and the American University of Nigeria (AUN), Yola have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on community service.
Some of the areas that the former speaker and AUN agreed to cover in the MoU; include organising teachers' training workshops, secondary school students spelling "bee" competition, women and adult education and ICT training among others.
Speaking while signing the MoU at the House of Assembly complex today, the former speaker assured them of his readiness towards supporting them in rendering their services to the community.
Hon. Mijinyawa told them that he is pleased to work hand in hand with the university on community service, saying that he is ready to partner with the institution in the execution of projects.
Speaking earlier, the Assistant Director Community Service, Aliyu Alhaji Ahmed said that they deemed it necessary to seek for partnership with the former speaker in the implementation of developmental projects in his constituency.
The Assistant Director told the speaker that they want the community to develop along aside with the university, starting that the office has been in the existence for 11 years.
According to him, getting people to partner on execution of such projects is a biggest opportunity they have as a university, and appreciated the lawmaker for accepting to sign the MoU.
