The Speaker, Adamawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Aminu Iya has called on the people of Shelleng Constituency to rally round the member representing the area, Alhaji Abubakar Isa, to enable him provide more people-oriented projects to them.
Speaker Iya Abbas made the call Saturday while flagging off the multi-million naira rehabilitation project of Shelleng Water Board sponsored by Abubakar Isa in Shelleng.
Represented by his deputy Mr Pwamakaino Mackondo of Numan Constituency, Speaker Iya Abbas said the State Assembly will ensure all the 25 constituencies in the state are provided with portable drinking water as it is the major source of concern in majority of the areas.
He commended the stakeholders of Shelleng Constituency for their support and encouragement to the Lawmaker and called on them to shun their political differences and work hand in hand with Abubakar Isa for the overall development of the area.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony of rehabilitation project at the palace of Amna Shelleng Saturday, the member representing Shelleng constituency said he personally decided on the project as part of his donation in an efforts to find lasting solution to the shortage of water supply in the his constituency.
The lawmaker disclosed that the rehabilitation project became necessary due to several requests by critical stakeholders and residents in some rural communities for lack of clean, portable drinking water, hoping to extend it to other communities.
The lawmaker said he has championed several projects to his people, including the provision of motorized boreholes, electrification of rural areas within Shelleng axis, sponsorship of students into various cadres of learning, building of schools, rehabilitation of decayed infrastructures and provision of materials to aide learning.
He added that he engineered the construction of road projects for easy transportation in rural communities, did youth and women empowerment programmes, and provided health care services, among others.
In his address during the flag-off ceremony the Chairman Shelleng Local Government Area Alhaji Muhammad KD Managina described the rehabilitation project by the lawmaker as a welcome development considering the water scarcity in the area.
Addressing the gathering, the Managing Director, ALMIBA Nigeria Limited, Engr Modibbo Bappare who was represented by one of the engineers of the company, said the rehabilitation project of the water board will be completed within this month, as the work had commenced in both water reservoirs and treatment plant.
In their separate remarks the Deputy Chairman All Progressives Congress APC Adamawa State Mr Samaila Tadawus, Shelleng APC Chairman Alhaji Yawale Tela and Alhaji Abdulkadir Mai former commissioner water resources said Marafan Shelleng has proved to the people that they have voted for a representive who has thier interest at heart.
The Amna of Shelleng Alhaji Abdullahi Isa Dasong, speaking when he received the delegation at his palace, commended Marafan Shelleng, saying they requested for assistance through various channels to rehabilitate or construct a new water project, but they did not get a positive response until the intervention of Abubakar Isa Shelleng.
The member alongside the deputy Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly, Chairman Shelleng Local Government, district Heads, and other stakeholders, visited the water board and reservoirs to inspect the ongoing rehabilitation project
