LADY WITH HIV TAKES LOVER TO COURT, DEMANDS FINANCIAL COMPENSATION


A 6 year old relationship between 2 randy lovers of Chochi Street in Yola, Adamawa has suddenly gone sour as the female partner name withheld has approached Yola Civil Area Court I, demanding monetary compensation of #460,000 for years of being together without marriage.

The lovers were said to be living together peacefully for good 6 years even without formalising their union, until recently when the man started creating a gap between him and his wife to be without telling her reasons behind his action.

Trouble ensued in the relationship blessed with a male child when the lady felt sick and taken to the hospital by her partner for medical check up, but was found to be a HIV carrier after medical check up.

It was learnt that when the lady was diagnosed at the hospital and found to be HIV positive, the situation sent deadly fears into the mind of the man on his health status and that of the little child.

But the man who could not sleep anymore since the day his partner was found to be carrying HIV, he surmounted courage and carried his child to the hospital for medical check up to enable him know their status.

Unbelievably, after the taste, the man was told by the medical personnel that neither him nor his child is found with the disease, a situation that made him to have a second thought about the continuity of the relationship.

NEWS PLATFORM gathered that upon coming back home, he started packing his clothes and said staying with her is just like digging his grave, hence his decision to escape for his life.

The man alleged that the lady has put his life in danger, adding that she attempted to kill her with the disease and vowed not to continue with the relationship anymore.

Furious with the action of the male partner, the lady went and instituted legal action against him, and asked Honourable Al- Amin Diya' s led Civil Area Court I Yola for an order for her boyfriend to pay total sum of 30,000 being damages for putting her in a family way against the custom of their people.

She urged the Court to order the defendant to pay her #10,000 monthly for the upkeep of the child and #150,000 being cost for general damages.

She alleged that they had a courtship for 6 years and that she asked her man to meet her family for a proper introduction and payment of dowry, but he continued to delay/postpone the meeting until he put her in a family way and now had a child for him.

When the case was mentioned, the defendant denied liability as contained in particulars of claim, but the the presiding judge, Al-Amin Diya, adjourned the matter to 10th March, 2020 for continuation of hearing.
