ADAMAWA CP TO MOTORISTS: STOP NIGHT JOURNEY OR FACE FULL WRATH OF THE LAW

Apparently concerned with outright violation of lockdown order on night travel by motorists, the Commissioner of Police, Adamawa state Police Command, Audu A. Madaki has vowed to descend heavily on motorists who continue to violate the order by embarking on night journeys in and around the state.

CP Madaki specifically called on the leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) and the Public Transport Owners of Nigeria Association (PTONA) amongst others to caution their members or else incur the full wrath of the law.

To ruthlessly deal with the violators of the existing lockdown order, the CP however directed Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to ensure full implementation of the restriction order, especially as it relates to night travel, but be mindful of those on essential services.

A statement signed by the Spokesman of the Command, DSP Suleiman Yayaha Nguroje and made available to NEWS PLATFORM in Yola the State Capital Thursday, insisted that the command will not take it lightly with the motorists who continue to violate the order imposed by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri aimed at containing the spread of Covid -19 pandemic.

According to him, the warning became necessary following intelligence report at the disposal of the Command that road transport workers: interstate operators, town service drivers and tricycle operators have continued to defy the order on the restriction of movement.

It added that the development has been undermining the tireless effort of the Government at curbing the spread of the deadly Covid-19 virus to Adamawa, explaining that the Lockdown order as relates to boarder areas is still 24 hours daily.

He appreciated the understanding and cooperation of the citizens, and assured them that the Command will continue to do its best towards protecting lives and property of the citizens.

CP Audu A. Madaki further enjoined all and sundry  to take advantage of the command's emergency GSM numbers and furnish the command with useful information on happenings around the state: 08089671313, 08035923676, 08036143411, 08035798444, 08037416008, 08038666306, 08065687577 and 08031552268
