ADAMAWA CP CAUTIONS HERDERS, FARMERS AGAINST CLASHES


 

Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adeyanju has cautioned herders and farmers against clashes usually recorded during the period of harvesting.


To this end, the State Police Command has extended the Police/Community Engagement" a Framework to Preventing Crisis" to Gombi Local Government Area in the State so as to curtail such disturbances.


According to CP Adeyanju, the Police/Community Engagement is designed primarily for Community /Religious leaders, Relevant Stakeholders ,Council Chairmen to interact among themselves with a view to promoting the already existing peace around the State.


The action of the State Police Command to extending the Engagement to Gombi LGA is coming barely a week after kick starting the Police/Community Engagement at the State level which saw relevant stakeholders deliberating on how to bring an end to such clashes more especially at this time.  


Speaking while extending the initiative the Gombi, the CP warned herders and farmers against actions and utterances inimical to the existing peace in the State, and called on them to contribute their part towards t promoting peace and stability in their communities.

 

However, the CP has charged Police and other Law Enforcement Agents to be professional while carrying out their activities, challenging them to act in accordance with the Standard Operational Rules of the force and other extant laws guiding their overall conduct.


He warned that any Police Officer found acting contrary to their oath of office or behaving in a way and manner prejudicial to discipline will be strictly and personally dealt with.


Speaking separately during the event, the Executive Chairman Gombi LGC, Engineer Dimas Shekel and the District Head of Gombi, Alhaji Usman S. Fada, applauded the CP and Police Command for extending the Engagement to Gombi, and described the initiative as laudable. 


The Commissioner of Police was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations as well as many other Senior Officers of the Command.
