Adamawa State Police Command says it has neither arrested nor demanded the sum of #150,000 from EndSARS Protester in the State.
However, the Command has urged the general public to disregard a publication which says that the Police have arrested a protester and demanded #150,000 from the suspect.
A statement by the Police Public Relation Officer(PPRO), DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje and made available to NEWS PLATFORM on Friday, denied the arrest and demand of the said amount from the suspect for bail.
DSP Nguroje clarified that on the 20th October, 2020, one Dominic Edmond, a Manager Chentuary Hotel in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area, arrested and brought to police, a 22 year old Stephen Reuben on alleged offence of criminal trespass and attempt to commit theft.
He said that the case was investigated and the suspect was charged to Chief Magistrate Court ll, Jimeta in Yola for prosecution.
He disclosed that the mother of the suspect approached one Yusuf Kawu whom he described as a charge and bail crook so as to assist her and secure the bail of her son.
According to him, Yusuf, a resident of Demsawo demanded the sum of 50,000 from the woman to facilitate the release of her son, saying that the Police have since arrested him and undergoing investigation.
