The Judicial Commission of Inquiry set out by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to investigate Tingno Communal fued in Lamurde Local Government Area, Adamawa State has so far cross examined a total of 44 out of over 70 witnesses expected to appear before it.
The Commission was constituted to unravel the circumstances surrounding the 15th May, 2020 violent clash between communities in Tingno and environs in Lamurde LGA.
NEWS PLATFORM learnt that from the beginning of its sitting, the Commission has called a total of 40 witnesses who in their testimonies, mentioned names of some people alleged to had involved in either shooting or burning of houses, shops, worship centers and destruction of other properties.
It was on this premise that Honourable Justice Hapsat Abdulrahaman led Commission of Inquiry thought it wise and in the principle of fair hearing to invite those fingered in the clash to come and testify/defend themselves before the it.
So far, about 4 out of over 30 more witnesses mentioned to have link in the clash appeared before the Commission and thoroughly cross examined by Counsels from the different side of the divide.
At a resumed sitting of the Commission presided over by Honourable Justice Hapsat Abdulrahman on Wednesday, about 4 witnesses from Hausa Fulani community were cross examined by Counsels to the parties involved.
The 4 witnesses vehemently denied all the allegations levelled against them regarding their involvement in the wanton destruction of lives and property in the communities.
Thereafter, the Commission adjourned its sitting to Monday next week for continuation of hearing/cross examination of witnesses invited to appear before it.
Fielding questions from newsmen shortly after the sitting, Counsel to the Commission, Joshua A. Waya, said about 44 witnesses have so far testified before the Commission, and now expecting over 30 more witnesses to come and tell their own side of the story.
Joshua A. Waya told newsmen that part of the Commission's assignment is to present witnesses for cross examination by Counsels to all the parties or interest groups.
