The Nigeria Union of Agric and Allied Employees, Adamawa State Branch has decried the level of devastation meted on its offices and facilities by the Endsars Protesters turned looters in the State and other parts of the country.
According to the Leadership of the Union, the estimated sum of #50billion cannot restore the properties carted away by the protesters, saying that the destruction cannot be more than that even during a time of war.
The Chairman of the Union in the state who is also the Federation Chairman of the Forum, Dr. Bathlomew Nyalas disclosed this to Newsmen in Yola, the Adamawa State capital shortly after inspecting the facilities looted by hoodlums.
Dr. Nyalas who described the damages as colossal and monumental, however emphasised the need for intervention by the government, stressing the need for state government to make temporary 'make-shift' to serve as offices.
"The Union houses the activities of all the Agric sector in Adamawa State located at Kofare; it has just been newly renovated from the little monies we generated and saved over time", said Nyalas.
The Chairman lamented that all facilities of the organisation were totally vandalised: refrigerators, air conditioners, cabinets, televisions, including the PVCs.
According to the Unionist, the vandalisation has a devastating effect that has forced workers to be Internally Displaced Persons(IDPs) seating helplessly under trees.
Dr. Nyalas, explained that all the 7 agencies under his union were ransacked by the looters which include; Agric Store office, Divissionary Vetenary Office, Kofare Vaccine Store and even the Adamawa Agricultural Development Programme (AADP) were razed down including all the offices in FADAMA II and III.
Also affected are; federal Ministry of Agriculture, Upper-Benue River Development Authority in Mbamba in Yola-South and NECAS where all the members are drawn from.
He commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for rapidly responding to the attacks on Governmet facilities by imposing 24hour curfew and issuing and Executive order by arresting the perpetrators.
Dr. Batholomew Nyalas, further called for synergy between the citizens and the security agents in prevent the reoccurrence of such incidents.
