Adamawa State House of Assembly on Monday, swore in Hon. Musa Mahmud Kallamu as new member representing Mayo Belwa constituency. News Platform
Hon. Kallamu, was elected member to represent Mayo Belwa constituency during rerun election conducted recently following the nullification of election at 7 polling units in the constituency.
The Election Petitions Tribunal voided the election of the immediate past member of the constituency, Hon. Ibrahim Musa Italiya, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and ordered for the rerun election which was affirmed by the court of appeal.
Hon. Kallamu, took the oath of allegiance and oath of membership administered by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, during a plenary held at the Assembly Complex, in Yola today.
Inaugurating the lawmaker, the Speaker of the assembly, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, congratulated him, and said that he is now the member representing Mayo Belwa constituency.
The Speaker charged him to work with his colleagues regardless of party differences in the interest of the assembly and their respective constituencies.
Responding shortly after the event, Hon. Musa Mahmud Kallamu, said that he is honoured and delighted to join them again at the parliament to continue with the legislative function.
He appreciated his constituents for their courage and resilience in restoring their stolen mandate, saying that this is nothing but a testimony of their firm belief in his vision for a better and prosperous Mayo Belwa
He assured of his readiness to justify the trust bestowed in him, saying that he will not be betray or take them for granted as he intends to consolidate on the gains of his past experience and achievements.
"Let me particularly express my profound gratitude to His Exceliency, The Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri the project Master, the Architect of Modern Adamawa, Fresh Air Governor for his tremendous support in assuring that the stolen mandate was was restored", he added.
"I will like to reiterate that my input as a member will always to support the quest for Adamawa State of our Dream. Mr. Speaker, I really appreciate the commitment of this administration in ensuring that no one is left behind and nothing is left untouched", he stated.
Hon. Kallamu pledged to continue to work with the Speaker and other lawmakers for the development of Adamawa State and Nigeria at large.
