The Management of Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC), has announced that it is working with the regulator to refund every customer overbilled in 2023.
The management made this known in a press release made available to newsmen in Yola, Adamawa State capital on Friday.
"Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) wishes to inform its esteemed customers that it is aware of the position of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) in its 2023 Annual Report which indicates that distribution companies (Discos) across the country, including YEDC, had overbilled their customers in 2023 due to the implementation of the Service Reflective Tariff (SRT)", the release stated.
It disclosed that YEDC is working with the regulator to ensure that every customer that falls within this category are given their commensurate refund as it is their right.
According to the management, the modalities of the refund are yet to be finalised and communicated to the public.
YEDC urged its customers to be vigilant and not to give funds to anyone in exchange for any form of refund or other associated services, explaining that such claims are fraudulent and should be reported to the nearest YEDC office or the customer care line on 09038853342.
It assured that every affected customer will be contacted by YEDC personnel and given instructions on the next line of action and advised them to always pass their enquiries to dedicated and authentic YEDC channels.
Equally, YEDC appreciated the patience and understanding of its customers and promised to remain committed to providing quality and reliable electricity service in line with the SRT and the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) approved by NERC.
