A suspected "Shila" boy was reportedly stabbed to death during a clash between the gang members and the vigilantes in Yola, Adamawa State.
The deceased identified as Uba was stabbed in the stomach with a knife by one of the vigilantes when the gang invaded Demsawo Government Day Secondary.
The hoodlums who armed themselves with knives, sticks and cutlasses, launched an attack on the school, assaulted the teachers and damaged cars as well as school facilities.
The cult group attacked the teachers and the vigilantes deployed to provide security in the school while protesting the arrest of one of their members by the vigilantes.
Already, the Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one of the suspected "Shila" boys, Muhammadu Musa, who masterminded the clash and a vigilante, Nasiru Abdullahi, who allegedly butchered the deceased.
It was learnt that Muhammadu, along side 4 other boys earlier stormed the school premises in uniform and pretended to be students on the 29th January.
They were apprehended by the vigilantes and brought to the office of the Principal for interrogation during which Muhammadu, pulled out his knife and took to his heels in order to escape but got re-arrested by the vigilantes.
Four other suspected "Shila" boys also escaped and went and mobilised other boys and invaded the school for 2nd time and started assaulting the vigilantes as well as teachers.
Some of the boys matcheted Nasiru but couldn't penetrate as he was said to have fortified himself with charms and while defending himself, he used the knife which he had snatched from Muhammadu, and stabbed Uba to death.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, who confirmed the incident to News Platform, assured of the readiness of the command to ensure the prosecution of the suspects after investigation.
SP Nguroje, further assured that the command is doing everything possible to get other suspected "Shila" boys arrested for investigation and prosecution to serve as a lesson to others.
