Adamawa State High Court on Wednesday, heard that the suspended Resident Electoral Commissioner(REC), Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari, is still at the hospital receiving treatment. News Platform
The counsel to the suspended REC, L. I. Oko, informed the court that his client is still at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital Bauchi State receiving treatment since he had collapsed last year.
Oko, who was represented by U. A. Bello, told Hon. Justice Benjamin Manji Lawan, that they are ready to take the prosecution to the hospital in order to see the defendant.
In his reply, counsel to the prosecution, Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), said the claim that Hudu is still at the hospital is not true, arguing that the the Investigative Police Officer (IPO) had visited the hospital but couldn't see him.
Rotimi, insisted that the IPO was at the hospital in Bauchi State, but was told that the defendant was not at the hospital, blaming his Hudu's counsels for their inability to produce him in court.
He told the court that the effort of the prosecution is being frustrated by the defendant and his counsels, saying that the prosecution was at the hospital to serve him but to no avail.
According to him, the prosecution is not in any way playing game with its case, adding that the defendant is being represented by counsels but still refuses to appear in court.
Meanwhile, the court has ordered the appearance of the Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Morris Jolujdo, in connection to failure of the suspended REC to show up in court.
CSP Joludjo, is the police officer who investigated series of allegations of electoral offences leveled against Hudu by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
