FRESH TROUBLE FOR HUDU AS ADAMAWA GOVT DRAGS HIM TO COURT



Adamawa State Government has dragged the suspended Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari, before the State High Court over alleged electoral offences. News Platform 


The government is seeking the conviction of the suspended REC on the fresh offences which it accused him of perpetrating while steering the affairs of the electoral body in the state.


The state has filed 3 count charges before Justice Benjamin Manji Lawan, bodering disturbance of public peace, conduct likely to cause breach of peace as well as personating a public officer.


This brought to about 9 count charges in 2 separate suits against Hudu filed by the FG as well as Adamawa State Government who want the court to try and convict him on the offences.


The FG had slammed 6 count charges against Hudu, but the case could not proceed due largely to failure of the prosecution to arraign him. The case has suffered about 9 adjournments.


Likewise, the suit by state marked: HC/ADSY/9c/2024, which was filed on the 20th February, 2024 came up on Friday for mention.


Addressing the court, Counsel to the state, Akamode Abayomi, informed the court that the defendant is yet to be served, saying that efforts made in this regard was not successful.


Akamode, said that the defendant was not at the address in Bauchi state as given to them, saying that the defendant has not been seen for long time at his residence.


According to him, the prosecution was constrained to ask for a date to make frantic effort in order to serve him with court process, assuring of their effort to arraign him.
