YOLA COURT REJECTS BAIL...RETURNS COUNCILLOR, ROYAL FATHER TO PRISON FOR 2ND TIME

Serving Adamawa state Councillor representing Modire ward in Girei Local Government Council, Hon. Paul Danladi and the Ward Head of Fombina, Zira Garba Masi, are expected to spend 7 days behind bars after their application for bail was refused on Thursday.

Hon. Paul, Zira and the Village Head of Modire, Mohammed Bello Modibbo, who are facing a string of charges related to alleged criminal conspiracy, intimidation, treespass and mischief may have been disappointed with the outcome of the sitting when the court ordered that they should be returned to prison.

The 2 defendants who have been in prison custody since Monday this week, were brought to court in a truck along side other inmates on Thursday for trial.

Magistrate Japhet Ibrahim Basani, on Monday revoked bail of the defendants on grounds that after the court graciously granted bail on the 18th June, they went back home and started interfering and threatening the lives of some of the complainants involved in the matter.

But at a resumed sitting on Thursday, the defendants through their counsels, Mohammed Abubakar and M. M. Tumba, filed application for bail where they told the court that their clients are leaders in the society, and that they have purged themselves by staying in the prison, and urged the court to vacate its revocation order.

On his part, counsel to the complainant, M. A. Adamu, vehemently objected the application where he informed the court that there are fresh allegations against the defendants, and that granting them bail at this material time will jeorpardise investigation.

It was at this juncture that Magistrate Basani adjourned the case to Monday the 26th July, 2021 for ruling on the bail application, and ordered that the defendants be returned at a Correctional Center till then.
