Adamawa State Police Command has dismissed rumours making round in the social media that 2 female students of Federal College of Education (FCE), Yola, were killed in a hotel.
The police command advised the general public to disregard the rumours, describing it as fake news and misleading information.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, in a statement by the the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, explained that the information is not true.
He said that the CP had deployed the Command's operational asset around Hotels for surveillance to checkmate criminal activities around it as a further manifestation of the Command's determination in providing conducive atmosphere for safety and security in the state.
"These deployments without doubt will surely assist in monitoring all hotels and accommodation facilities, prevent any attempt to commit funny behaviors, coordinate timely response to distress call and to clamp down on any attempt threatening the lives and property.
"The CP has equally directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations to immediately ensure strategic deployment of officers and Operational Asset around Hotels in the state.
"The CP, while dismissing the rumours on social media that 2 FCE students were beheaded, advised members of the public to disregard such fake and false information as it is the handiwork of mischief makers who are out to disrupt the peace of the public and create unnecessary tension" said CP.
He said that the CP had further re-emphasized that the presence of police and other security agents around Hotels are firm determination of the command in creating an enabling and well secured environment as such incident didn't happen anywhere in the state
He further advised the Social Media bloggers to desist from anything that threatenes the peace of the public and continue doing things in accordance with the extant laws.
