JUBILATION AS ADAMAWA CJ FREES WOMAN AFTER 10 MONTHS IN PRISON

Adamawa State Jail Delivery Committee has discharged about 70 years old woman after spending 10 months in prison custody over defamation of character.

The 70 years woman identified as Saraya Salma from Filingo, Fufore LGA, was set free when the committee of Jail Delivery visited Yolde Pate Correctional Centre.

This sparked emotions and wild jubilation from the woman and hundreds of other inmates at Yolde Pate Correctional Centre in Yola,  Adamawa state.

The Chairman of the committee and Chief Judge of the state, Hon. Justice Hapsat Abdulrahaman, discharged the old woman when she appeared before the committee.

Out of her magnanimity, the CJ presented the sum of N12,000 to the woman as transport fare to her community and cautioned her against committing crime.

On her appearance, Salma told the committee that she had had misunderstanding with a man in their community whom she had accused of witchcraft.

She said that the man accused her of witchcraft and that she responded and called him a witch, saying that the man became provoked and went and sold bags of grains and dragged her to court.
