ADAMAWA JDC REFUSES TO PARDON "SHILA" BOYS, RAPISTS, OTHERS

The Adamawa State Jail Delivery Committee, JDC, has declined to grant pardon to inmates accused of "shila" activities, kidnapping, rape and armed robbery.

The committee headed by the Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Hapsat Abdulrahaman, declined to grant pardon to the affected inmates when it visited Yolde Pate Correctional Centre on Thursday.

The committee refused to consider the cases of those awaiting or standing trial on the offences including culpable  homicide, armed robbery, "shila" gangsterism, rape and kidnapping.

Likewise, a statement by the Director Information of the State Judiciary, Sunday Kadiri, for the Chief Registrar indicated that such cases will be exempted from consideration during the exercise.

The Director said that the committee will not entertain such cases during prison decongestion embarked upon by the committee, saying that the committee has since commenced jail exercise.
