Murder: Yola Court Admits Autopsy Report in Evidence against Operation Farauta
Adamawa State High Court sitting in Yola, has admitted in evidence an autopsy report on 17 years old SS II Student, Abdullahi Tukur Abba, allegedly killed by operation farauta.
The court presided by Justice Musa Usman admitted the report after tendering it by the Prosecution Witness (PW), Dr. Aminu Dahiru, a Consultant with Modibbo Adama Teaching Hospital and Senior Lecturer Modibbo University (MAU) Yola.
The 43 years old witness who lives in Yola South LGA, tendered the report through counsel to the prosecution and the Director Public Prosecution Adamawa state, I. A Jada who appeared along side S. B. Digil(Senior State Counsel I) and L. M. Dodo (Senior State Counsel I).
The report was admitted in evidence and marked as exhibit A1 after the PWI had identified it as it contains his name and signature.
Testifying, Dr. Aminu told the court that he was contacted by Investigative Police Officer (IPO) by name Badamasi Sanusi, on the 9 August 2023 to carry out autopsy on the dead body of Abdullahi Tukur Abba.
He narrated that prior to the autopsy, he was informed by the IPO that the deceased developed health challenges after he was beaten and became unconscious as a result untold torture, brutality and died due to brain injury, trauma in the brain, swelling among others.
Under cross examination, the witness said that brain injury had occurred as a result of trauma in the head and admitted that trauma can also be caused as a result an accident.
He was cross examined by Onye Ukaegbu, U. A. Bello and A. A. Tahir, Counsels to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd defendants respectively.
Some personnel of operation farauta including Insp, Bashir Mamman, Insp. Paul Chaballenda, Baba Buba and CPL Stephen Zwalkur ( currently at large) are standing trial in connection to the gruesome murder of Abdullahi.
The defendants were arraigned over alleged conspiracy and causing the death of Abdullahi Tukur Abba, SS 2 Student of Sabilul Rashad in Yola South LGA by subjecting him to untold torture and brutality in August, 2023, by the defendants.
