IGP Storms Yola, Commissions Ultra Modern Police Headquarters




The Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, on Thursday, commissioned ultra modern Police Headquarters Complex, Adamawa State Police Command.


Speaking while commissioning the complex, IGP Kayode, congratulated the officers and men of the command for the newly constructed and commissioned state-of- art-complex.


IGP Kayode, said that the command has a headquarters that is befitting and worthy of their brave and dedicated officers, saying that he is proud of the facility.


The Police Boss said that the newly commissioned headquarters is more than a physical structure; its represents their commitment to serving and protecting their communities, saying that it is symbol of their dedication to justice and welfare of their officers.


He further stated that as they move forward, they will continue to wotk tirelessly to ensure that their officers are equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge and logistics needed to enable them function effectively and efficiently.


He thanked their partners, stakeholders, community leaders for their support and collaboration in executing the project, adding that together, they can achieve even greater things and make their communities safer, more secured and prosperous for all.


He urged them to show commitment to the vision that they have celebrated, appealing to them to mark the occasion with pride and celebration and work together to build the brighter future for their communities. 


In his welcome address, the Commissioner of Police Adamawa State Police, Dankombo Morris, said that it was a great privilege to stand before the IGP on the historic day to welcome again the 22nd indigenous IGP. 


CP Dankombo said that the noble project has addressed the challenges of office accommodation in the Command, pointing out that it took off and completed under his administration. 


According to him, Adamawa State is one of the North Eastern States of Nigeria that suffered security challenges particularly Boko Haram insurgency.


He disclosed that Adamawa shares boundaries with Borno, Taraba and Gombe State respectively as well as borders with Cameroun Republic.


"The Command has Four (4) Area Commands which include Yola Area Command, Mubi Area Command, Numan Area Command and Karewa Area Command with 53 Divisional Headquarters. It has a total strength of 6,444 personnel.


"The Nigeria Police Force being the lead agency in internal security has played a vital role in making sure that the state is safe, secured and conducive for both economic and social activities.


"I would also like to express my profound gratitude to the IGP for finding him worthy to be posted as the 32 Commissioner of Police Adamawa State.


"Since I assumed duty, my modus-operandi in fighting crime and criminalities has been in line with the vision and mission of the IGP which is based on extant laws, International best practices, paying much attention to respect for human rights, professionalism and inclusive community policing". He added


"Our achievements would not have been possible without the tireless effort of our officers and Men of the Command, the Executive Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for his continued support in all ramifications". He said.


He said that Fintiri always ensures a safer Adamawa State and has always been their strength during critical period and also appreciated stakeholders, sister agencies, local security groups and community leaders.


Sir, worthy of note during the year under review, the Command recorded about sixty (60) cases, ranging from kidnapping, armed robbery, culpable homicide, farmers/herders clashes, rape/defilement and other heinous crimes.


In the same vein, the Command has arrested one hundred and twenty (120) suspects in connection with the aforementioned cases.


Meanwhile, during his visit, the IGP paid a courtesy visit to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at government house as well as Lamido Adamawa, Alh. Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha.
