Song LGA Communities Seek Creation of Guto District

Some communities in Song Local Government Area Adamawa State have sought for the creation of Guto District out of Suktu District in Yungur Chiefdom.

The affected communities including Zata, Roma, Balma, Brah and several other villages said the creation of Guto District will foster unity, address challenges, bring government closer to the people at the grassroots.

The represenatatives of the communities led by Andrew Samaki Roma, appealed for the creation of Guto District when they visited the Member representing Song constituency at the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Emmanuel Kefas on Monday.

Speaking while leading the delegation, Samaki Roma, said that the visit is a follow up to a memo which they earlier submitted to the hallowed chamber for creation of District.

Samaki Roma disclosed that initially there were misunderstanding among the communities about the name of the District and its headquarters as a result of which Balma, Roma and Zata submitted different memoranda for consideration.

He disclosed that the communities had resolved their differences and decided to seek for the creation of Guto District, and pleaded with the Lawmaker and the assembly as a whole to consider their memo whenever additional districts will created.

Several stakeholders who spoke during the visit, commended the member for his effort in providing good representation, and urged him to channel their request to Governor Ahmadu Umaru for consideration and possible creation of the District.

Responding, the Member representing Song Constituency at the assembly, Hon. Emmanuel Kefas, thanked them for the visit, saying he is happy now that the communities had decided to come together under one umbrella.

Hon. Emmanuel Kefas, informed them that they reason why they could not get new District when additional districts were created by the government is because of their differences on the name and headquarters of the District.

He said that as their representative, he will only do things that will bring about unity, peaceful coexistence and progress of his people and not to bring division among them, saying that he is happy now that they had resolved their differences and decided to come together for a common goal.

The Lawmaker further commended them for their collective decision to seek for creation of Guto District which comprises some communities that were earlier seeking different Districts with different headquarters.

He promised to channel their request to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, so that whenever additional districts will be created, their memo will be considered, assuring them of his readiness to support them in order to get the district.

Hon. Emmanuel Kefas, further assured them that his doors are opened for them and for anybody who has an issue in order to come so that they can make corrections for the progress of Song Constituency and Adamawa State in general.
